Monaco – To have the classification already calculated in corrected time in each moment of the race, is the aspiration of every crew. And the WallyClass now provides this service to the Wallys at each regatta!
What makes this possible is the Performance Data Acquisition System (PDAS), the innovative system developed by the WallyClass secretary with ASH – Seaweb, that acquires the performance of each Wally during the races, including speed over ground, course over ground, positions and trip log of the whole race.
During the race, the PDAS provides the provisional standings in corrected time of each yacht at the mark roundings as well as in each moment of the race via a cell phone text message.
After the race, all the data are online in a dedicated web site, accessible only by the WallyClass members.
This is a major step forward also in the calculation, update and check of the performance based ratings: the PDAS allows to set up a database with accurate and technologically monitored information of the performance of all the Wallys.
The system works via GPS integrated with the cell phone, and it can be implemented with the wind speed data acquisition by connecting the hardware to the onboard B&G. Each boat is provided with the specific hardware the day before the start of each event.
The new Performance Data Acquisition System (PDAS) is exclusive of the WallyClass and is sponsored by Hublot Genève.
The Swiss watch brand recently partnered up with Wally, to become the Official Time Keeper of the WallyClass providing several services including watch awards to yacht owners and crew members
