Yachtsman and entrepreneur Luca Bassani’s vision for a fast, safe cruising yacht redefined the genre of large cruising sailboats.

After only seven years in business, it is difficult to imagine the contemporary luxury yacht sailing scene without Wally Yachts. In its short but meteoric history, Wally Yachts has helped change not simply the look and feel of large cruising sailing yachts, but has forever altered the very construction, systems and engineering that define the genre.

The Wally Yachts story begins with its founder, Luca Bassani, a passionate 42-year-old sailor who in his career has cut a wide swath through European racing circuits. In 1972, Bassani won both the IOR Mediterranean Championship and the Two Ton Cup.
