Indio is the first sloop to finish in the Transatlantic Maxi Yacht Cup

British Virgin Gorda - at 15:30 local time, Indio, a 100 foot Wally crossed the finish line in the YCCS Transatlantic Maxi Yacht Cup, taking first place among the sloops in the race and second place overall. With a time of 11 days, 6 hours and 30 minutes, Indio battled changeable conditions.

Commenting on Indio's participation in the race, Anya Moers Recordati spoke from the yacht: "Crossing the Atlantic in style! We couldn't have hoped for a better experience on Indio - great speed and great spirits!"

The Transatlantic Maxi Yacht Cup is organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda with the International Maxi Association in collaboration with the Real Club Nautico de Tenerife. The regatta is open to monohull maxi yachts with an overall length of more than 18 metres.

This year two Wallys participated, Indio and Kenora, joining the ranks that have previously raced across the Atlantic; among these, Bagheera finished second by just 20 minutes in the 2009 ARC regatta and Alexia finished the in the 2009 YSSC transatlantic event.

Indio's performance builds on some great racing during the 2011 FT Wally Grand Prix series, including first place in three out of four races during the Nespresso Cup in Portofino.
