Palma de Maiorca - Four spectacular racing days marked the Wally return in force to Palmavela, impeccably organized by the Real Club Nautico de Palma from 4 to 8 May 2022, and that offered all kind of conditions, spanning a solid 20-22 knots gusting to mid-20s on the opening day before dropping to the weekend’s lighter sea breeze.
Six races were sailed in the Maxi Division that included Bullitt (former Nahita), Galateia, Spirit of Malouen X (former Open season), and Magic Carpet 3, while three races were sailed by the Spirit of Tradition Division with three wallynano37s competing.
Three Wallys on the podium of the Maxi Division: Galateia went on win all six races winning the series by eight points. Very tight competition for the second place, that in the last day was taken by Bullitt, at its first regatta with the new owner and his team, by one point only over Magic Carpet 3 that finished third. Spirit of Malouen X, at its first event too, ended the series in sixth position.
In the Spirit of Tradition, wallynano37 Nostromino took the third place with line honours in all the races, Little Thila was fourth finishing second in real time every day, and Niji seventh.
Congratulations to all the teams!
The next regatta for Wally is the Maxi European Championship in Sorrento, Italy, from 14 to 21 May. Stay tuned.
