Saint Tropez – At the three-day inshore series in Saint-Tropez, the Wally Class was represented by the Wallycentos Galateia, Magic Carpet 3 and Tango who alternated at the top of the standings. The unstable weather conditions allowed to complete four Windward / Leeward races: Galateia was leading at the end of the first day, Tango of the second day, and Magic Carpet 3 of the third and last day winning the series.
The momentum now builds for tomorrow’s start of the 66th Rolex Giraglia, one of the Mediterranean’s most famous offshore races with the 241-nautical mile course from Saint Tropez to Genoa, Italy via the Giraglia rock at Corsica’s tip, organised by the Yacht Club Italiano.
The Wally 94 Sensei will join the Wallycento fleet for this yachting classic.
Key decisions such as sail choices, crew selection and tactical strategies will be thoroughly assessed ahead of the midday start. The offshore race is an intense, rigorous challenge defined by two distinct legs.
The race for line honours appears wide open. Among the favourites to finish first are three Wallycentos Galateia, Magic Carpet Cubed – line honours winner in 2016 and overall winner in 2015 –and Tango. Conditions will dictate which yacht gains an advantage on the racecourse.
As usual, we will broadcast the live tracking: stay tuned in the Wally Class app!
